RECORD NUMBER OF FILIPINO PROFESSIONALS GRADUATE FROM THE WORLD MARITIME UNIVERSITY IN MALMO, SWEDEN

5 November 2017, Malmö, Sweden – The World Maritime University (WMU) held the graduation ceremony for its class of 2017 which includes a record seventeen (17) Filipinos. This is the biggest group of Filipinos to graduate from WMU in an academic year and is the largest group of graduates from one country to have completed their post graduate degrees from the Malmö campus of the WMU.
Out of the seventeen Filipino graduates, seven were women, a welcome mark of progress in a field usually associated and still dominated by men. 
Former Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Director Dr. Maximo Q. Mejia Jr. and current Director of PHD Programmes in the WMU was also present to see the graduates off.
Chargé d’Affaires Maria Elena P. Algabre and Third Secretary Paolo Alix attended the event, congratulated and gave graduation presents to all seventeen Filipinos.
