Philippines-Finland Relations

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Finland were established on 14 July 1955.  The bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere, have intensified in the last years.

Finland’s presence in the Philippines can largely be felt through the increasing number of Finnish enterprises doing business in the country.  These include Nokia, Kone Elevators, IVO Power, KEMIRA Chemicals, Wärtsilä Power, Tieto Communications, Pöyry Power (for operations/maintenance of power systems of certain industries), Meridia Financial Softwares and Outotec (mining and metals processing/treatment).

To date, five rounds of bilateral consultations between the Philippines and Finland have taken place.  The last round was held in May 2014, with DFA Undersecretary Evan Garcia and Finnish State Secretary Karl Peter Stenlund heading the respective delegations.
