AMBASSADOR FOS MEETS WITH HILIGAYNON ASSOCIATION IN NORWAY

A week after his arrival in Oslo and assumption of his new role as the country’s envoy, Ambassador Enrico T. Fos recently met with officers and members of Hiligaynon Association in Norway (HAN) led by HAN President Rosa Bollos Johansen, in Oslo.

The meeting coincided with the group’s Christmas party. It signified a new phase of cooperation and mutual support between the Philippine embassy and the organization.

Hiligaynon Association in Norway comprises 200 active members and constitutes a major part of the Filipino community in this far country.

In his brief remarks before Hiligaynon leaders and embassy staff, Ambassador Fos highlighted prospects of greater institutional cooperation between the embassy, the community, and other stakeholders on overseas Filipino welfare.

This approach takes the form of more intensive preparation and training for our OFWs including our nurses and seafarers, who face challenges in an increasingly competitive environment.

The event with the Hiligaynon Association of Norway marks the first community engagement of the Philippine embassy under Ambassador Fos, and hopes to usher in a new phase of cooperation with our compatriots in Norway after the easing of lockdowns imposed by the pandemic.
