COVID-19 PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 35: EXEMPTION OF FOREIGN SEAFARERS FROM THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF VISA ISSUANCE TO VISIT THE PHILIPPINES

COVID-19 PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 35: EXEMPTION OF FOREIGN SEAFARERS FROM THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF VISA ISSUANCE TO VISIT THE PHILIPPINES

The Embassy wishes to announce that, effective immediately, the Embassy will resume the acceptance and processing of applications for 9(c) visas for foreign seafarers who will board ships docked in the Philippines or who are crew members of ships going to the Philippines. Inbound passengers in possession of valid 9(c) visas will now be allowed entry into the Philippines.

For the complete procedures to be observed by foreign seafarers upon arrival in the Philippines, please refer to Joint Circular No. 01 dated 02 July 2020 issued by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and various Philippine government agencies on the establishment of the Philippine Green Lane for seafarers, copy attached below.

The Embassy wishes to reiterate that in addition to foreign seafarers with valid 9(c) visas, only the following foreigners may enter the Philippines:

  1. Accredited Foreign Government and International Organization officials and their dependents;
  2. Foreign spouses and children of Filipino nationals; and
  3. Foreign airline crew.

Visa issuance and visa-free privileges for all other foreigners wishing to visit the Philippines are still suspended, and they are not allowed to enter the Philippines at the moment.
