COVID-19 PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 41: DEPARTURE DEADLINE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS IN NORWAY WITH EXPIRED RESIDENCE PERMITS OR VISAS

COVID-19 PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 41: DEPARTURE DEADLINE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS IN NORWAY WITH EXPIRED RESIDENCE PERMITS OR VISAS

According to the latest advisory from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) dated 27 August 2020, all foreign nationals, including Filipinos, presently in Norway with expired residence permits or visas must now leave Norway before 15 September 2020 or risk rejection of entry or expulsion.

The advisory further states that:

Foreign nationals who could not return home before their permit, visa, or visa-free stay expired due to the corona situation must now return home. From 15 September, stays after the departure deadline may result in rejection of entry or expulsion.

If it is still not practically possible for you to travel out of Norway, you must explain, when leaving, why it was not possible for you to travel, and show that you have researched possible ways to travel out. Conditions such as expensive tickets, complicated itinerary, or the infection situation in your home country are not sufficient reasons for not going home when your departure deadline has expired.
