COVID-19 PUBLIC ADVISORY NO. 42: CESSATION OF PHILHEALTH-FUNDED COVID-19 TESTING FOR REPATRIATES AND RETURNING OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS

The Embassy hereby informs the public of the announcement by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) that it will no longer receive specimens for COVID-19 testing chargeable to PhilHealth for repatriates and returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) effective 14 October 2020.

The Philippine government is looking to tap government-run laboratories to conduct COVID-19 tests previously performed by the PRC. Repatriates and returning OFWs should therefore anticipate delays in the processing of their COVID-19 swab test results upon arrival. Results are now projected to take 5 to 7 days, up from the previous 24 hours to 3 days processing time delivered by the PRC.

The full announcement of the PRC is available below.
