Filipinos in Stavanger Raise Philippine Flag for Kalayaan 2019

Flag-raising ceremony during the Philippine Independence Day celebrations in Stavanger, Norway

08 June 2019, Stavanger – Despite the rains, the Filipino community in Stavanger, Norway, led by Honorary Consul Renee Ikdal, raised the Philippine flag and put on a party to commemorate the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

Vice Consul Jahzeel Abihail G. Cruz represented the Philippine Embassy in Norway and congratulated the organizers on their event and delivered the 121st Philippine Independence Day message of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr.

In her speech, special guest Anne Kristin Bruns, Stavanger Kommune council member and Rogaland KrF Kvinner party leader, praised Filipinos for their hardworking spirit and contributions to making Stavanger a vibrant and multinational city.

In addition to a variety of Filipino food for sale, the crowd of Filipinos and locals alike enjoyed song and dance performances by Filipinos in Stavanger and western Norway. Lucky attendees also won prizes during a raffle sponsored by the event organizers. END
