24 January 2018 - The Philippine Embassy in Oslo, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism in London (DOT London), and the Philippine Consulate General in Helsinki, participated in the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, held on 18-21 January 2018, at the Messukeskus, Helsinki, Finland.
On its second year of participating in the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, the Philippines highlighted the country’s majestic mountains, pristine beaches, and tourist-friendly diving and surfing resorts. Visitors to the #It’sMoreFuninthePhilippines booth included various travel agents and companies, such as Finland-based Olympia Kaukomatkatoimisto, and Aventura Tour Operator Limited; and Philippine-based Sunbee Tours and Travel, which has a satellite office in Helsinki, Finland.
First-time travellers to the Philippines, who have already booked their tickets for a visit this year, also approached the booth to inquire on suggested itineraries and activities for their tour. Repeat travellers to the country expressed their reasons for going back to the Philippines, such as convenience of being in an English-speaking country, the hospitality of Filipinos, and the Philippines’ impressive and beautiful landscapes.
DOT London also gave a lucky raffle draw winner the chance to visit the Philippines with a round-trip ticket, courtesy of Turkish Airlines.
The annual Matka Nordic Travel Fair is one of the largest travel industry events in Northern Europe, with more than 50,000 consumers and 20,000 travel industry professionals visiting the event every year. For 2018, it showcased more than 1000 exhibitors from 80 different countries. END
