Philippine Embassy Joins Commemoration of Norway’s Constitution Day

17 May 2020, Oslo – Philippine Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia congratulated the Kingdom of Norway on its 206th Constitution Day as she signed the congratulatory book on 17 May 2020 at the Royal Palace. Ambassador Batoon-Garcia expressed her appreciation for the strengthened cooperation between the governments and peoples of the Philippines and Norway especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippines and Norway have enjoyed diplomatic ties for 72 years, with formal establishment of relations on 2 March 1948. The two countries have closely cooperated in bilateral and multilateral efforts to ensure peace, gender equality, and the protection of democratic values.

The Philippines and Norway have a long history of economic cooperation including in the maritime sector. Through the years, people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and Norway have increased with a significant number of Filipino seafarers, healthcare workers, and engineers employed in Norway or by Norwegian companies.
