To kick-off the celebrations for the Philippine Independence Day, the Embassy is pleased to feature Filipino nurse and artist Ruby Rose Alison. Ruby is a self-taught painter and a nurse at the emergency room of Aker Hospital (Legevakt Aker). Born in Negros, Philippines, she started painting as a hobby and outlet from the daily stress of work.
As a proud healthcare worker in Norway, Ruby would like to inspire Filipinos in the healthcare service and other kababayans to find their own healthy outlets from stress and pursue their own joys including in the arts.
Ruby’s paintings which exhibit Filipino culture will be on display at the Embassy’s consular area for the month of June. “Social Medyo” depicts traditional Filipino games before the onset of social media. “Inday” and “Tatang” are portraits of comforting Filipino faces like those of children, parents, and grandparents. “She Laughs” shows the importance of laughter, a trait that Filipinos are known for.
We encourage everyone to support Ruby and view her paintings at: www.instagram.com/rubyrose0903
